WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A DOOR TO DOOR ENUMERATOR?
Open the door to a census taker and open doors for your community.
The Census worker will have an identification badge and may have a black canvas bag with the official U.S. Census Bureau logo. You may ask to see another form of identification to confirm their identity.
The Census worker will never ask to enter your home. A Census worker will never ask for your social security number, immigration status, citizenship status, or any financial information (such as credit card or bank account numbers). If you are not certain about the identity of the Census worker, call 1-877-352-3676.
Language Assistance - If the census worker cannot communicate with anyone in the household, they will show a card with short statement in 59 languages and ask the resident to identify their preferred language. The Local Census Office will assign census taker or translator who can communicate with that household in the appropriate language.
